The Siemens F-CPU 1516F is a fail-safe version of the S7-1500 CPU 1516-3 PN/DP, executing both standard and safety-related control programs within a single hardware unit. It supports SIL 3 (IEC 61508) and PL e (ISO 13849-1) safety integrity with certified safety function blocks for emergency stop, guard monitoring, two-hand control, and safe speed monitoring. The safety program is programmed using the same TIA Portal environment as the standard logic, with dedicated safety administration editor and F-block library ensuring simplified engineering and unified documentation. Dual-channel PROFINET IRT communication with PROFIsafe profile enables fail-safe data exchange with distributed safety I/O devices such as ET 200SP and ET 200eco PN. The CPU includes a comprehensive diagnostics buffer with safety-specific events, enabling rapid fault identification and reducing machine downtime.
